About
I am researching sonnet sequences 1560-1640, in particular those of Sir Philip Sidney, Edmund Spenser, William Shakespeare, William Drummond, and John Davies of Hereford. My reading of the sonnet sequence is informed by the new religious turn in phenomenology, particularly the works of Emmanuel Levinas and Jean-Luc Marion.
I have interests in the sociality of sonnet writing, and the handling of earthly and divine love. I am also interested in early modern notions of fame and eminence in the transition from systems of patronage to the emergence of the independent professional author.
